Searching for a spot to pitch a tent that’s close to the sea, but sheltered from the coastal elements? Look no further than our Rookery Camping Pitches.

Situated under the namesake nesting trees of the resident rooks, the tall tree canopy provides both a shaded setting for your camping retreat, and a home to the protected birds and their young. This area is for our guests with tents, and with unallocated grass standing pitches on a first-come, first-serve basis, you can choose the perfect area amongst the trees to make your camp. This does mean that we are unable to guarantee that bookings of multiple tents will be able to find space next to each other. The Rookery Camping pitches are non-electric pitches. We allow for one tent up to 18 m² per pitch, with a maximum of 6 people. You can add up to two dogs to your pitch for an additional charge.

It is worth noting that the nesting season for our rooks is between spring and early summer, and during this time they do make a considerable amount of noise which can wake you up in the morning – they may also leave some unwanted gifts on your tent or car! Though the noise doesn’t affect all of our guests, you may wish to bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Find out more about our resident rooks.

We have a variety of facilities and amenities available for you and your fellow campers and tourers to use on the park, including our shower & toilet block with baby changing facilities, water points, and a dishwashing area with shared fridge-freezer, and USB charging points available for your use. Our on-site Shop provides all the essentials you may need (or that you forgot to pack!) and the Man O’ War Bar & Restaurant is less than a 3 minute walk from the furthest part of the camping area, giving you tasty dining options without the need for travel. If you’re bringing the children along, they’ll love our adventure play parks!

Ask us about our Accessible facilities: our toilet & shower block has a private Accessible Wet room facility, requiring a radar key to gain access. Our friendly Customer Care Team are available to answer any queries you may have by phone or email, or you can visit the Accessibility page of our website here for more information on the general park.

We welcome the use of BBQs in the Rookery Camping area – but ask you to think of the stunning local environment, and only bring a reusable one. We do not permit disposable BBQs anywhere on the park. All BBQs must be raised off of the ground, and should only be burned using coal or gas; we do not allow any camp fires on the park.

Please note there is no Wi-Fi available in this area. Free Wi-Fi is available for use in the Bar & Restaurant.

Included in the price is one tent pitch for up to 6 people, and one vehicle (extra vehicles can be added for an additional cost, and may not be able to be parked directly next to the pitch). Prices vary depending on the time of year that you wish to visit.

We accept roof-tents and trailer-tents. These must be in the Abbeyfield Touring Area. You are not permitted to sleep in a vehicle in the Rookery Camping Area.

If you are looking to stay in your motorhome, caravan or campervan with us, have a look at our touring pitches here.

You may find it useful to download our Park Map to see the location of the Rookery in relation to other areas of the park.

Before you book, please read our Terms and Conditions & Park Rules.
