Autumn is upon us and bringing with it clear crisp mornings and beautiful late summer sunshine. Witches, Brooms & Bats – Wednesday 24th October 

Lulworth Visitor Centre Reception (Lulworth Cove – BH20 5RQ)

An exciting Witches Broom making activity, using locally sourced materials, followed by a short talk to introduce you to the wonderful world of UK bats, dispelling some of the myths surrounding these incredible flying mammals.

Early Morning Wildlife Ramble – Saturday 6th October 

Brownsea Island, Poole Harbour, BH13 7EE

Enjoy a calm and peaceful tour of the beautiful Brownsea Island, in the middle of Poole harbour. With both a boat ride and guided walk, this is the ideal way to see the best of the birdlife.

Coastal Foraging and Edible Seaweed Course – Saturday 6th October

Fore / Adventure, Middle beach, Swanage, Dorset, BH19 3AP

Enjoy a seaside scavenge and learning all about nature’s bounty, from local seaweed to razor clams, coastal plants and fishing pots. Learn about medicinal properties of many varieties, harvest times and how best to eat them. Finally finish the day with a hot cup of soup, flavoured with ingredients foraged throughout the day.

Swanage Steam Gala – Friday 12th to Sunday 14th October

Swanage Railway’s home fleet opens its doors to guest locomotives, offering rides on both passenger and freight trains. The three day festival also boasts the renowned Wessex Belle Bistro Dining Train on both Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as many other local attractions.
